Of course the word that comes to mind is “fra-gee-lay” from the gloriously quotable “A Christmas Story”. I’ve never even seen that whole movie, but I know that line. Quite brilliant, turning such a sensitive word into a punchline. I wanted to go right to how we are all living in such a fragile state in the world today, teetering and tottering, thrashing about “The Global Village” (a most accurate prediction if there ever was one, well done Mr. McLuhan) but I don’t like living in that village so I will take this exercise elsewhere. Instead, I keep picturing blowing those little white things off of a dandelion and watching them blow in the breeze. Fragile.
